Digitization has recently become a very popular term in library and information centres as there has been a global need for nations to preserve their cultural heritage and make them accessible in order to contribute actively to the global information and knowledge economy. The focus of this work therefore is on the prospects and challenges of digitizing library resources in Nigeria, taking special insight on the meaning of digitization, purpose of digitization, types of resources digitized, skill/competences necessary for digitization, factors affectingdigitization processes and strategies for effective digitization of library resources.
