Cholesteatoma of paranasal sinus mimics malignant tumor- a case report

Intriduction: A cholesteatoma is a cystic keratin-filled mass lined with stratified squamous epithelium. Paranasal sinus cholesteatoma is a rare clinical entity with only a few cases reported in the literature. Case Report: We describe a rare case of cholesteatoma in the maxillary and ethmoid sinus presenting with blood-stained nasal discharge and nasal obstruction refractory to medical treatment. The patient was treated by functional endoscopic sinus surgery to remove the cholesteatoma completely.

Paracoccidioidomycosis oral manifestations

Paracoccidioidomycosis is a systemic disease that mainly involves the lungs, spreading later to other organs and systems. The most common oral manifestations are ulcerated and erythematous lesions, with an irregular surface, raised and hardened edges, being easily confused with other lesions. Although well described in the literature, most dental surgeons have never seen or diagnosed paracoccidioidomycosis.

Skill-based health education and its behavioural implications in secondary schools in calabar municipality, cross river state, Nigeria

Purpose: This study investigated the level of implementation of skill-based health education in secondary schools in Calabar, Cross River State in relation to the School Health Programme implementation guidelines. Methodology: Two hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. The study employed the descriptive survey design. The multi-stage sampling technique was adopted to select a total of 314 SS2 students, 100 teachers and 20 principals from 20 schools (10 public and 10 private) and 2 policy makers to make up the sample size of 436.

Implementation of a program for the opportune detection of uterine cancer manta-ecuador

In Ecuador, cervico-uterine cancer is one of the main causes of mortality, most frequently at ages around 35 and up, because; to avoid its progression, it imposes the knowledge of its main symptoms and the development of studies that assure an early diagnosis. The objective is part of the preparation of an educational plan for prevention and treatment that contributes to the improvement of the quality of care of women who work in the medical center of the BILBOSA packinghouse.

Leadership styles of nurse managers and their effects on nurse and organisational performance, issues and problems

The aim of this review was to evaluate the effect of leadership styles of nurse managers on nurse and organisational performances and identify the research gaps. The literature search using Google Scholar yielded 53 articles on the entire range of the topic. Although nurses play a vital role, their performance can be significantly affected by the leadership style of the nurse manager under whom they work. Both positive and negative effects are possible. Negative effects may lead to errors in patient care, delayed or poor service delivery and even leaving the organisation.

A study to assess the effectiveness of mindfulness based stress reduction (mbsr) technique in reducing stress among the employees working at selected information technology centres

Stress is not always negative. It may also bring out the best in individuals at times. It may induce an individual to discover innovative and smarter way of doing things. This positive dimension of stress is called as eustress. But usually, the term stress has a negative implication and this negative aspect of stress is termed as distress. For instance - When a subordinate is harassed or warned by his superior, unhappiness of unsuitable job, etc. We can say that “Stress causes some people to break, and other to break records.” The Quantitative Research approach was used in this study.

Status of malocclusion among adults in urban areas

The aim of the study to is to survey the prevalence of malocclusion among adults residing in urban areas. Malocclusion is the imperfect positioning of the teeth when jaws are closed. Problems with teeth alignment is easier and quicker to treat when they are corrected early. Malocclusion can lead to complications such as discomfort, tooth decay and chewing difficulty. Malocclusion is a causative problem in a lot of dental diseases so it's documentation will help create awareness among the public.

Salivary gland imaging- An overview

A variety of conditions including obstructive, inflammatory, infectious and neoplasms affect the salivary glands. On clinical examination, nodal masses, peripheral nerve schwammomas, and masseteric hypertrophy may mimic tumors of salivary glands. This renders the spectrum of imaging and diagnostic procedures wide to attain an appropriate diagnosis.

The reliability of imaging in the diagnosis of temporomandibular joint disorders; a systematic literature Review

The aim of this study is to assess the reliability of imaging in the diagnosis of TMJ disorders, namely, MRI, Cone Beam and and Ultrasonography. This systematic review has allowed an analysis of the scientific literature in the period 2005 to September 2015. This study is based on approved publications that assess the sensitivity, specificity and reliability of each type of imaging technics in the diagnosis of ATM components disorders, their benefits and limitations; and comparison with other imaging technics not discussed in this study.

To estimate the liver function and hyperkalemic effect on tolvaptan therapy in neurodisorder

Hundred millions of people worldwide are affected by neurological disorders. Hyponatermia, the most electrolyte disorder in hospitalized patients. For the improvement of hyponatremia the pharmacological option include arginine vasopresssin antagonist such as tolvaptan has been shown to improve diueresis and symptoms relief without adversely affecting the renal function and promising novel therapeutic agents in the growing population of patients having neurological disorder.
