A study to assess the effectiveness of lamaze breathing exercise on labour pain among primi gravid women admitted in labour ward at mgmc & ri, puducherry

Reproduction is a basic function of human beings. Pregnancy and delivery are natural, joyous, human events. Childbirth is a universally celebrating event and happiest occasion in a women’s life. Pregnant women commonly worry about the pain they will experience during Labour and childbirth. Labour pain is one of the severest pain. Controlling labour pain is a major concern of maternity care. Nowadays, interest in non-pharmacological methods may be helpful for their Labour experience and also no side effects.

Case report -orbital tubercular dacryoadenitis

A 18-year-old male patient presented with a history of painless, progressive swelling on the left side of the face of 3 months duration. On examination, fullness along the right lateral orbital rim with ptosis (especially laterally) Ocular movement was normal. His BCVA was 6/6 in both eyes. ]. A firm, non-tender mass was palpated in the temporal orbit. There was no associated discharge or redness, and the mass was not warm or fluctuant. Slit lamp, fundus and intraocular pressure evaluations were normal in both eyes.

preliminary phytochemical and invitro- antimicrobial analysis of aeglemarmelos (l.) correa leaf extract

The present study was undertaken to evaluate the preliminary phytochemical constitution and invitro-antimicrobial activity of Aeglemarmelos (L.) Correa leaf extract. Preliminary phytochemical screening of the freshly prepared plant leaf extract showed the presence of alkaloids, tannins, saponins, flavonoids, glycosides, phenolic compounds, terpenoids and steroids.

Assessment of iron profile among sudanese patients with chronic renal failure undergoing heamodialysis

Background: Anemia is present in the majority of patients with chronic renal failure (CRF) on hemodialysis, The proximate cause of the anemia is an inadequate endogenous erythropoietin (EPO), iron is essential for hemoglobin formation and productive erythropoiesis, accurately assessing iron status is a prerequisite for diagnosing iron deficiency, monitoring the response to iron supplementation, and maintaining effective erythropoiesis in these patients.

A correlative study on bronchoalveolar lavage cytology with histopathology in patients with pulmonary lesions

This study was conducted with 132 brocho alveolar lavage (BAL) samples over the period of 2 years.The age group of patients ranged from 16 years to 80 years and the maximum numbers of cases were found in the age group of 51-60 years, comprising a total of 31.8% of the (42 cases) study population. Breathlessness and haemoptysis were present in equal number of cases (41 cases, 31.1%). Out of 132 BAL smears studied the diagnosis of malignancy was given in 36 (27.2%) cases, dysplasia in 20 (15.2%) cases and 52 (39.4%) cases were diagnosed as non neoplastic inflammatory lesions.

Refractive error patterns at a community eye hospital in southwest of nigeria

Background: visual impairment is one of the commonest causes of disability globally. Uncorrected refractive error is the commonest and largely preventable cause of avoidable visual impairment worldwide. The objective of this study is to ascertain the distribution of refractive errors in the adult populations in Ogun state, southwestern Nigeria. Methods: This is a retrospective review of adults from 18 years and above.

Mysterious prevalence of dental fluorosis in waghdhara

Context: There are various regions in India that have high levels of fluoride in drinking water sources. Many people residing in such places suffer from dental fluorosis (DF). Aims: To evaluate the etiology for the wide spread prevalence of DF in children residing in Waghdhara village in vidharbha region of Maharashtra and also to find any correlation between DF and other related parameters. Materials and Methods: Data was acquired through interview & clinical examination using Dean’s fluorosis index.

Astaxanthin and its health effects

Astaxanthin found in salmon, shrimp, lobster, crayfish and krill belongs to the family of xantophil of carotenoids. Astaxanthin is produced from many microorganisms such as microalg Haematococcus pluvialis and red yeast Phaffa rhodzyma. Astaxanthin is also used for coloring agent in fish feed. Apart from coloring agent astaxanthin has many positive effects on health. Astaxanthin has been shown to be 100 times stronger than vitamin E against lipid peroxidation and 40 times effective than  carotene on scavenging singlet oxygen.

Epidemiological profile of diagnosed injuries in bucal cancer: study of a brazilian population

Introduction: Oral cancer is presented in different ways and variable complexities. These lesions present a high mortality rate, therefore, it is considered a severe health problem in the world. The treatment of these lesions is established according to extension, location, early detection and diagnosis. Objective: To characterize epidemiological aspects of diagnosed patients with oral cancer in a Brazilian population. Methods: Cross-sectional study, analytical-descriptive, retrospective, based on 3730 medical records of cancer cases provided by the Medical Service.
